The 2nd Annual Australian Mathematical Sciences Students’ Conference

9 – 10 June 2011
Monash University

"The 31 student talks and 2 plenary talks were all of an excellent quality and overall the two days provided a great chance for students share their research interests with each other and broaden their mathematical knowledge. There were 46 participants including 14 interstate participants, most of whom appear to have cultivated new contacts within the mathematical community as a result of this conference. Overall, everybody seemed pleased with how the conference turned out."

Stephen McCormick, Conference Organiser

The Australian Mathematical Sciences Students’ Conference stimulates communication between mathematical science graduate students. Providing a forum in which students may gain an understanding of the mathematics research being conducted across different universities, as well as an opportunity to share experiences of graduate study.

The conferences are run by students, for students. Any masters or PhD student is welcome to use this conference as an opportunity to share their research and receive feedback, develop presentation skills and initiate contact with other researchers.

The 2011 conference ran over two days, with student talks, plenary speakers, as well as several opportunities for students to socialise with other graduate students from across the country.
