The workshop "Symplectic and CR methods in complex-analytic geometry" brought together a small but highly focused group of researchers and PhD students at the University of New England in June. For the first time the proposition of conference travel to the relatively isolated regional centre of Armidale in northern NSW was supplemented by the successful deployment of the university's fiber-optic grid facilities. This made possible the remote attendance of additional participants seated in grid-access rooms at Macquarie and La Trobe universities.
